Manchester United will enter the transfer market for a new midfielder if Casemiro heads for the exit door.
The Brazil international joined the Red Devils from Real Madrid two years ago and he had a superb debut campaign.
However, his performances dipped in his second year at the club. He struggled with injuries as well as his form.
Casemiro was dropped from the starting line-up in the FA Cup final as a result and his future could be elsewhere next term.
United are currently exploring offers to part ways with Casemiro. In case that happens, they will pursue a replacement.
West Ham United’s Edson Alvarez has emerged as a leading target for them, but a deal won’t be easy to negotiate for the Mexican.
The Hammers only signed Alvarez from Ajax for £35m last summer and they could easily demand over £60m for him.
It remains to be seen whether the Red Devils are prepared to make such an outlay for Alvarez, who worked under Erik ten Hag at Ajax.
